Mod brooch collection
I've been on a brooch buying spree lately, it started two weeks ago when I snagged 3 brooches at a flea market and then I started scouring Etsy and Ebay for more. The picture above is just some of my brooches that are on the warm side....my precious....
Cough, any who, I just started a flicker group called Mod vintage brooches for those crazy collectors like me. Please share your favorites!

Video - A Espantosa Fábrica do Sr. Hiro

1. What kind of art do you make?
Mostly, digital illustrations. I also make collages and screen-printing.
Links to my work:
website: cosasminimas.com
shop: blancucha.etsy.com
2. What do you enjoy most about working in this medium?
Working with shapes, colours and textures on the computer, I love the fact you can try again and again. One don´t have to worry about messing all up; you assemblage shapes once and again until the thing you´re looking for finally comes out and you are satisfied with it. In the case of collages, the process takes much more time and you have to be very careful with the process; screen-printing, on the other hand, is very fun and relaxing, I like to do that every now and then.
3. What challenges have you found in your work?
My major challenge is be able to develop a personal style and, at the same time, try not to being redundant.
4. Where do you find inspiration
In books, colleagues, films, museums, streets, travels. daily silly thoughts... To sum up: in life.
5. What are your favorite artists, designer or blogs.
A bunch of them (at random): Picasso, Alexander Girard, Olle Eksell, Sempé, Jim Houser, Quentin Blake, Pascal Blanchet, Hanna Konola, Cristóbal Schmal, Mikel Casal, Yamauchi Kazuaki, .. I know I'm forgetting a lot of them, but I have to stop somewhere...

Hooray for me!
After a year of not touching a paint brush I finally painted a small 6"x8" painting last night based on this print. I used my typical materials of paper and acrylic paint but I also tried using stiff felt which I've always wanted to use but was always afraid of for some reason. I worry about ruining a painting but I really liked using the felt and I hope to use more of it in the future.

Help!
I'm seriously thinking about getting some bags sewn and silkscreened. I still need to find out if my design and colors are cost effective, but besides that I wondering if I should do a thin bag with a long strap or another bag similar to my pod tote. Help!
Ok I take it back I love CB2 again.
I just got their catalog in the mail and I love all the bright colors they are using. Click here to get a catalog.

1. What kind of art do you make?
I make all kinds of art - comics, cut paper art, and digital illustration. I generally keep all 3 separate from one another, but sometimes there is overlap. I graduated from the RISD Printmaking department, where exploring many methods and styles was encouraged. I love all things cute and colorful.
2. What do you enjoy most about working in these mediums?
Of all the mediums I work in, I think the common thread is my printmaking roots. I approach most projects with some preliminary planning and I often think in terms of layers of color. Making multiples is also still a huge part of what I do - I run an online shop where I sell art, stationery products, and accessories featuring my illustrations.
3. What challenges have you found in your work?
Finding the time to do everything! Having my mind pulled in many different directions is sometimes difficult. I keep lots of notes and to-do lists so I don't forget new ideas if I am busy working on something else.
4. Where do you find inspiration?
I bring my camera everywhere, if I see something I like, whether it is a color or a pattern or a scene, I can capture it and file it away for future reference. I keep a lot of binders so that I am always on top of my ideas. I have a binder full of notes and sketches for my personal art and illustration projects, a binder for magazine clippings of current illustration that I find inspirational, and one full of magazine articles and photos that I refer to when I am in need of a new idea to illustrate for my portfolio when things are slow.
5. What are your favorite artists, designer or blogs.
I read a million blogs, and have too many favorite artists to mention, but if you check out the links on my website it gives you a good idea!

Freebie Monday?
I used to do freebie fridays all the time but have stopped for sometime now. I recently saw a Kashi commercial promoting their cereal giveaway and I got the itch again. I was going to post these on Friday, but I was worried that some of the offers might expire. Enjoy!

Fotos Curiosas - A Geração Perdida

Water plants have a new home
My mom had given me a water plant for my koi pond that I think is so cute. It will probably die if I leave it outside this winter, so I found a new home for it inside a vase. It used to be a long thin plant but broke up into smaller pieces. I love it floating around my onion shaped vase.
I also skimmed out a few small pieces of water lettuce and stuck them in a second onion vase. I'm not sure if they will like living in a vase, I'll let you know how the experiment goes.
As for my gold and koi fish, I really want to bring them inside for the winter. That means I need to invest in a large fish tank. Ugh...

Desenhos - Bonecos do Bruno - Piquet x Renault
