Buying a Mobile!

I've always wanted to get a Calder-style mobile and now that I moved, I'm finally getting one! It's going in the living room near the high windows. I should be getting it in a week or two.

I picked out my colors, plopped them into place with Photoshop, and sent my design to Julie Frith, who makes all kinds of funky mobiles and stabiles. Check out the wide range of designs on her site.

The style I purchased is called Modernist. Julie has a cool video of it in motion.

The wall is done!

(Above is the color and furniture from the previous owners)

It's finally done: The crazy orange color I picked looks amazing, it's a great contrast against the green wilderness outside the windows. I feel like I live in a design showroom!

Gardening

Welcome to the secret garden! I've been dying to get my hands on my outside space for so long. I'm no gardener, but the area needed some cleaning up (I'm a big fan of organized japanese gardens). I moved out some pants and bought a heavy old looking planter. I had so much fun! All the memories of playing in the dirt when I was little were all coming back!

Quality VS. Beauty

I found this Scandinavian Branch Armchair on the Urban Outfitters website and I think it would look great in my house. I'm always weary of getting things from places like this but it's so beautiful I just had to post it.

Hola!

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I just don't have time to do anything anymore!

I was part of a wedding last weekend in Gloucester, MA. I hadn't been to the ocean in so long! It was a nice wedding, and for once this month it didn't rain (what a lucky bride!) It was a nautical-themed wedding. Check out the wedding invitations I made for them (if you haven't seen them already).

Rain rain go away

It's been pouring here in Nh for days and days! Will it ever stop?

Craigslist is awesome!

Check out my new studio table! I found it on craigslist about three weeks ago and finally got it today. To motivate myself to get some extra work done, I told my husband that if I didn't finish four projects today, he shouldn't take me to pick it up. I got all my work done - and who wouldn't for this set! Someone was selling this for $100 and there was no photo, but the description sounded promising so I asked for pictures and I got some dark blurry ones. I could still see the potential! This will be a great table to prepare all my orders. Plus the chairs roll and are so comfy and it's in great condition! I'm so excited!

Busy Busy busy

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, I have been swamped with work: a scrapbooking line (sample pattern pictured below), some christmas designs, children's cards, wall art, greeting cards, plus all the orders that keep coming in and need to go out. I haven't even had a chance to enjoy the new house! I actually had a good cry today: I kept having problems saving some files to send to a client, and all these deadlines are approaching and everything just got to me. Oh, the humanity!

I suppose having too much work is a good problem to have! :-)

Driving down to Ikea

My husband and I drove down to Ikea last weekend to pick up some things for the house. A drive that usually took us 28 minutes now takes us an hour and half now! So I tried to be thorough but there were just so many people there and I think we might have missed some things. I did get some fabric panels for my closet and a Anno Ljuv panel for the front entrance and a very large Balso pot (Which I have always wanted). The panel is just taped up right now, when I get some time I will get it up there for real.

Painting the dinning room

We were about to treat the cracks last night and and then paint the walls this crazy orange color when Al my husband decided to peel a peice of paint off. There must have been about 8 coats of paint on the wall and it just seemed to peel off the plaster wall so easily. So we kept going and now we wished we didn't. It's about 80% done but that 20% is stuck on like glue. I can't wait to see it orange.

I decided to go with orange because I found this image on the internet ages ago and it's been sitting in my home inspiration folder. I thought it would be a good choice to get my black furniture to pop off the wall.
