German Orangey Goodness

Today I'd like to share my small collection of orange china aka my babies :P
The tall white tea pot was made by a company called Mitterteich of Germany, the tiny tea cups were made by Freiberger in the GDR and the pattern with the one big orange circle was made by Thomas also from Germany. I drove an hour and 15 mins to get 10 dishes and a tea cup of the Thomas set on Craigslist a few weekends ago. The things I do for vintage!

I would love to know more about when each set was made, but I haven't had much luck finding any info. :(

Funky pod table

What an amazing table! The wood looks gorgeous cut into those shapes. Check out more at Etsy shop Arras Designs

My husband and I where going to make a table similar to this, he would cut the wood and I was going to paint the pods. We bought the supplies right before we moved and now I have no idea where it all went. I'm sure our table would never look as cool as the one above!

Upcycled Wood Furniture Into Wall Art Sculptures

Mykl Stanley's Etsy shop uses recycled vintage pieces and turns them into beuatiful pieces of art. Inspired by mid-century modern designs with a touch of a rustic vibe thrown in. Also Check out his wife's page SuZanna Anna.

Living room essentials

I've been looking for a mid-century glass coffee table for the living room and I plan on getting a Noguchi table. I did find a really old one in a nearby antique store for only $350, but it was REALLY beat up, unfortunately (it needs a new finish and a new glass top). If it was $150 I would have considered it...

I also want to pick up a white shag rug, I've always wanted one. My husband hates them, but he knows how much I want one. Thankfully he's always trusted my decorating skills. I love having that freedom! Thanks, babe!

I also purchased some fabric on Etsy that I will try and turn into pillows. I've been finding some really great patterns that I'm going to use as curtains and a table cloth in other rooms. More pictures to come...

Modern Landscaping

I've had a hard time finding examples of modern landscaping. I made a quick sketch of what I think would look nice in the front of my new house, but I'm still undecided. In the meantime, I've been working hard pulling out all the stuff I don't want.

I got inspired by these images of a front home makeover on Apartment Therapy. They removed all the old big bushes and replaced them with smaller ones. And I love the use of stone. Check out more images of this home on Flickr. The inside is even nicer!

Animals, animals, animals

I have been getting tons of e-mail from readers who want to spell out their baby's name using my A-to-Z designs. I plan to start selling them this Friday on my Etsy site. I've been looking into cheaper paper to keep costs down so that those long baby names won't blow a hole in new parents' wallets!

I need some help though: I have multiple versions of some animals/letters and I can't decide which to put up... Can you help? Which version of these animals do you like?

Linens 'n Things Files For Bankruptcy Protection, Closing 120 Stores

Last Friday, the bedding- and home-furnishing retailer filed a petition in bankruptcy court in Delaware and said it would close 120 underperforming stores, almost a quarter of them in California.

There is one near me that is closing and I did go in last weekend and it was filled with people, but it didn't look like they were buying all that much. I bought a medicine cabinet for the bathroom and some cute wine glasses. Beware of purchasing, make sure it's exactly what you want because you can't return your items. I wanted to buy curtains for the master bathroom but if they didn't look right I'd be stuck with them. Most of the store items were at a 10% discount but some departments like curtains and hardware were 20% off.
