1950's inspired wedding
My friend just started the process of planning her wedding, which is to take place in September of 2008. After attending many wedding expos with her and buying tons of wedding magazines, she has finally decided on a dress and color palette. Since I'm a graphic designer, my job is to design her wedding invitations and other printed items. I will write regular updates on our progress. This is so exciting!

Artist Lee Gainer
Artist Lee Gainer created this amazing and unique design called "Magnolia", on a 48" x 48" cradled maple board. It goes for $1,595.00, and I think it's worth every cent! The piece is bright and would make a bold statement in any room.
The piece is part of a series where all the works are named after flowers. The pieces in the series are created using recycled materials hand-rolled into circles and swirls (resembling flowers, get it?) and beautifully secured on the board. Each one took her just over a month to build! The materials include fabric, paper, felt, foil, caps, carpet, metal, plastic, styrafoam, dried paint, beads, padding and cardboard.
If you're looking for something less expensive, you're also in luck: check out more of Lee's work on her Etsy store.

Flat screen TV cover
Melissa, the maker of this TV cover, has an Etsy store called Haworth Handmade. When you're not watching TV, you can stare at this beautiful piece of art instead. What a great idea, right? You can purchase this cover, which fits a 40" Sony Bravia, for only $30! And she also makes custom sizes. Or if you'd like to make your own, instructions are here.
Artist Lisa Dejohn
Artist Lisa DeJohn from Newbury, MA was just recently featured in the arts section of the Boston Globe. She was hired by IKEA to design artwork for them, how exciting!
Thanks for the info, Scott!

The Bird and The Bee
This music video is by a band named The Bird and The Bee. It's a really cool song and so is the video, please check it out!
Artist Alicia Bock
I found artist Alicia Bock on Etsy today. The series pictured above is titled "Through the Viewfinder", and it reminds me of one of those old projector films. The colors are simply beautiful, the blues and greens so calming. Though the images are recent, her technique makes you feel like you're looking into the past.

Free Hallmark card!
One free Saturdays card by Connections from Hallmark.
Hurry, they go fast!
From Walmart's site: "New characters. New levels of laughter - Meet Gloom Betty. She’s a tad, shall we say, un-cheery. Sarcastic. And she tells it like it is in her own goth-girl fashion. Then there’s Monty the squirrel — a little pint-sized philosopher. And the Cat Heads … well, they’re cats doing people things. Which is always amusing. (Seriously, it is! Trust us.) Come meet them all, courtesy of Connections from Hallmark, in the greeting card aisle at Wal-Mart. And just try to keep a straight face."
Martha now at Macy's
The Queen of Simple, Martha Stewart, is now selling goods for the home at Macy's. I particularly love the aqua kitchen items, they would look great in a retro kitchen!
New Anne Taintor magnets
Check out Anne Taintor's new magnets! She was the original artist making these "Vintage Revisited" pieces, and I've been a fan for a while. Lately, I've seen imitators doing similar work, which I guess is the ultimate compliment for an artist.
Camping in style!
"In collaboration with Millets this summer, Orla Kiely has launched a limited edition camping range that includes tents, a sleeping bag, wellingtons and campsite accessories. Why not glam up your camping holiday or festival with the pick of the new range!"

Adesso Portland Tables From Target
This end table and coffee table are on sale at Target! I really like the tapered legs, and the interior opening that can hold magazines, remotes and all sorts of junk! I was getting ready to buy the coffee table, but then I found this other one on Craigslist for $20! It doesn't have the storage option, but for $20 I really don't mind! :P
Pantone® coffee mugs - The perfect gift for a designer!
As a graphic designer, I absolutely LOVE these Pantone coffee mugs! Sadly, I can only seem to find them online in UK-based stores that won't ship to the US. :( The British Urban Outfitters site has them. Argh! I don't even drink coffee, but I have to have them! If anyone can find them in the US, please post the link!

The work is a husband and wife collaboration by Kathleen Guss and Stephen Robison. Check out more work on their flicker site. They look like they should be submerged in a fish tank, what a happy fish!

Jenn Ski poster sets
New and the old! I'm trying to make posters that can go together in sets. It was something I never thought about in the beginning but I've learned now that people want more then one. So I'm taking posters I've previously made and I'm creating similar pieces to match. The one on top is new and the one on the bottom was one of the first posters I ever made in the "pod" series.

Cool Craigslist find: 1950's coffee table
I found this cute 50's table with brass feet on Craigslist for only $20!! I just picked it up yesterday, it looks better than I had hoped for. The description was vague and the picture the woman had up was dark and you couldn't even see the brass feet. But I needed a smaller coffee table so I went for it, I'm so glad I did!

Pencil art by Jennifer Maestre
I found artist Jennifer Maestre from Concord, MA on Etsy recently. I would've never thought of taking something as boring as a pencil, and turning it into such funky art. Beautiful!

Another satisfied customer!
I like to ask my customers for pictures of my art on their walls, and one of them has sent me these wonderful pictures of her place. It makes me so incredibly happy to see my art on someone else's walls! For those of you just tuning in, I've only really started selling my art in the last two months or so, so to know that someone enjoys my art enough to hang it on their walls and look at it everyday... Well, it's a new experience for me, and it makes me giggle with happiness! :-)
The pieces are (from left to right):
P-2007-3
P-2007-16
P-2007-2
Thanks Lisa for sending me these pictures, your place looks fabulous!
