Modern Living Space
James Tatton is a home stager utilizing mid century modern artifacts combined with reused/recycled contemporary pieces. His business Modern Living Space is based in San Francisco, California, and he has been staging homes for about 6 years now. The company is a small operation and working towards being 100% green by utilizing vintage mid century modern furnishings and reused/recycled contemporary furnishings.
James is an avid collector of Mid Century Modern artifacts, so he lives with a lot of the pieces for a while and then uses them in the stagings. All the items become available for purchase once the property has been sold.

Patio Inspiration
I love this deck. My husband and I are thinking of building a cedar deck off the house in the summer when it's dry. We have a vernal pond which shows up in the spring. The previous owners mentioned that two ducks show up each year. Our home is surrounded by trees and it would be nice to have a place to walk around.
The travertine on our floors also continues outside. I'd like to build a deck that lays flat with the stone. One problem we face is that the roof has no gutters and that water would be dripping on the deck. So I did some research and found a site called Iron Age Grates. I'm not sure now much they cost but they have some really cool drain designs. I'm so ready for all this snow to melt!

Tillandsia Air Plants
All the grocery stores near me have Tillandsia air plants. They are so tiny and cute I just had to snag some. Those pots they come in are only 1.25 inches tall!

Orla Kiely now for sale at Target stores
So I've been visiting my local Target store over the past two weeks searching for Orla's products. First I saw the cloth organizing boxes and now they finally have her line of kitchen ware on display. I was hoping that my store would have more of each product but they only had 4 of each plate, 6 of each plastic cup and only two trays. I stood there in front of all the products for 15 minutes trying to decide what to get. I ended up getting a tray and matching serving bowl... and a storage box.
Mid-Century Monday: Cathrineholm: Lotus pattern
Photo Credits: Cathrineholm collage image found on Flickr, S&P shakers found on Flickr.
I managed to find some detailed info about the lotus design from the Nordic Design Blog.
"Lovely items with the ‘Lotus’ pattern created by Grete Prytz, a second wife of infamous Norvegian Designer Arne Korsmo. Grete Prytz Kittelsen was born 1917 in Oslo, Norway. Her designs have won many prestigious awards. She was one of most influential designers in Scandinavia in Mid-Century. In 2003, when she was already 86, Grete visited China, where she saw traditional Chinese enamel factory still in operation and which inspired her to start designing again. Chang & Biörck got exclusive rights to reproduce some of her design, among which a bowl and a plate, that she designed using similar colors as her original 1950s works. Cathrineholm of Norway started enamel production in 1907." (Info found on Nordic Design Blog)
I've also just joined the rest of the Cathrineholm fanatics! I scored myself a green ice bucket and an avacado pot on Craigslist. I can't wait to find more!

New at West Elm
I love going to West Elm's website and checking out their beautifully decorated rooms. I Also I really like how they're using yellows accents this spring, it's so bright and cheery and one of my favorite colors now. But I'm not liking the Moroccan style on some of the furniture and accents this year, it gives off this Pier One vibe.

I painted it's a miracle!
I've been on a mission in the last few days to fill up the empty spaces is my home. I had some large leftover hardboard canvases that I just thought I should use up. For now my house will have little bits of cut paper every where, yay...
I'll add more images to my flickr page once they are finished and up on the walls.
